WEDDING CHECK LIST

At the earliest time possible …

• Visit the clergyman, registry office or marriage celebrant

• Determine the number of guests you can accommodate

• Plan reception and make booking

• Book your church

• Make transport arrangements

• Book the photographer and video maker

• Arrange marquee hire and catering arrangements

• You and your fiancé should make up guest list

• Make your honeymoon reservations

• If your honeymoon is overseas, obtain passports etc

• Arrange flowers with the florist

• Arrange balloon decorator

• Choose and order your wedding cake

• Select your wedding rings

• Arrange music for church and reception

• Make hairdressing and make-up appointments

• Order brides and bridesmaid dresses

• Order your wedding invitations

• Compile gift register

3 Months before …

• Mothers should choose their outfits

• Visit your doctor to discuss family planning, and vaccinations required if having a honeymoon overseas

• Visit your dentist

• Pick up your wedding stationery from the printer

2 Months before …

• Arrange church rehearsals

• Check on wedding rings

• Send out wedding invitations

• Bride choose gift for groom and attendants

• Groom choose gift for bride, bestman and groomsmen

• Groom and attendants should have suits hired

• Give notice of intent to marry to your celebrant. This must be done at least one month and one day before the wedding, but no more than 3 months in advance

6 Weeks before …

• Check the caterer if the reception is at home, check suppliers of cutlery, crockery, chairs etc

• Order wines, spirits and soft drinks

• Check with the florist

• Complete trousseau and plan honeymoon clothes

• Check honeymoon luggage requirements

4 Weeks before …

• Insure wedding gifts

• Plan bridal showers and bucks parties

• Confirm arrangements with your wedding celebrant, minister or priest

• Have your hair styled using your wedding hair piece

• Have a test run with your make-up lady

• Final fitting of your wedding dress and also bridesmaids outfits

• Arrange accommodation for out of town guests

• Have a top-to-toe beauty treatment

• Start to write thank-you notes for gifts as they arrive

2 Weeks before …

• Ensure that the wedding party is familiar with all plans, procedures and duties expected of them

• Arrange press announcements

• Have all clothing ready to pack

• Confirm numbers, menus etc with caterer

• Confirm wedding day appointments with hairdresser, make-up artist

• Arrange seating plan for reception, write place cards

1 Week before …

• Finalise details with the church, reception venue, photographer, florist, transport etc

• Pack for your honeymoon

• Have wedding rehearsal

• Check that all guests have transport to and from church and to the reception

• Make up an emergency kit for the day that your mother can carry with her

• Make sure your travel documents are all in order and that you have your travellers cheques for your trip

On the Day …

• Try to keep to time

• Don’t forget the wedding rings, and have a magical day
