About The Willows Golf Resort
|
|
|

When Don and Sue Matheson purchased The Willows
Golf Resort, they
took over a golf course that was looking rather tired and frayed as the
result of minimal maintenance and refurbishment over a number of years.
Membership levels were fairly stagnant and it was obvious that
considerable effort would be required in order to breathe new life into
the facility. That considerable effort has resulted in the recognition
of The Willows as a professional championship standard golf course.
The Australian golfing
legend, Norman von Nida, at the conclusion of the Queensland
Masters 2003 tournament predicted that
" if The Willows
continues its rate of development it will challenge Lakelands on
the Gold Coast as the best course in Queensland."

Any golf course that seeks to host
a top tier professional tournament must initially become the subject
of rigid scrutiny by the Australian Professional Golf Association.
In addition to the course layout meeting specific criteria, the
overall condition of the fairways, rough, bunkers and greens must
also meet high quality standards. The Willows successfully met such
requirements and will be subjected to similar vetting from time to
time.
|

The benefit to members and guests
at The Willows Resort stems from the fact that they can play on a course
that is considered to be of the highest standard, without having to
outlay the fees and prices that courses of such standard normally
command. In playing a round of golf at The Willows
Resort you will be
challenged. Serious golfers can be challenged to test themselves in
comparison with top line professionals, who, incidentally, averaged
in excess of par in the
Queensland Masters, while social
golfers will be challenged to complete their round without becoming
completely distracted by the vast range of wild life that abounds
within the golf course.

Our goal has been, and will remain ...
|
-
To provide a public access golf facility which presents a challenge
to the top line professional and amateur golfers together with the
ability to restructure the course layout to cater for beginners and
those who desire their golf to be a less serious and more social activity.
-
To deliver a level of client service that indicates the value we place
on your presence and our desire to have you return.
-
To develop golf estate residential accommodation that parallels similar
ventures such as Hope Island.
-
To make available to members a club house facility of a standard where
they can take pride in inviting partners, friends and business acquaintances
for non-golf social activity.
-
To present to business corporations a venue, and level of co-operation
that will enable the conduct of corporate golf activities that will
successfully promote their business, impress clients and provide a
fun activity for their business team.
